What is the German Pinscher puppy?
Although there are records of this breed dating back almost 6 centuries in the past, its origins are still uncertain. In that sense, these dogs were always the choice of nobles from Germany and France, which is why these animals appear in many paintings of the time.
In addition, experts point out that the breed originated from a mix with Schnauzer dogs. However, more specific information regarding his ancestry remains unknown. Incidentally, many mistakenly believe that the German Pinscher dog is descended from dogs like the Dobermann or the Pinscher zero.
However, the case is exactly the opposite! That is, it was the Dobermann and Miniature Pinscher that came from the German Pinscher. During World War II, however, the breed practically disappeared! In this sense, it was thanks to a lover of these dogs, Werner Jung, that the German Pinscher did not become an extinct dog.
Although it is a famous breed in its region of origin, it took many years for it to migrate to other countries. Thus, it ended up being officially recognized only in the mid-1870s and its standards established only more than a century later, in the 1980s.
According to official documents, this dog must have a proportionate body, with a square build. That is, height and length are almost the same. In addition, they are muscular and strong animals with an erect and thin tail. Meanwhile, its ears are triangular and tipped over. It is worth remembering that it is forbidden to cut the ears of these animals.
Lastly, their coat should be smooth and fine. According to official records, the colors vary between black, brown and brown, combined with a reddish tone at the ends of the body. Their eyes are also dark and often match the tone of their fur.
How much does a dog of this breed cost?
First of all, it is important not to confuse the German Pinscher with others of the Pinscher type, such as the Miniature and the Zero, for example. In this sense, the latter are very popular dogs in Brazil, which means that you will easily find kennels and breeding grounds if you are interested in acquiring one of these animals.
However, finding a legitimate and reliable German Pinscher kennel can be a real challenge. By the way, many people offer a Medium Pinscher as being the German, but this is not true. Therefore, it is important to be aware and demand the Pedigree of the breed before buying your puppy.
Incidentally, try to visit the kennel or breeder to make sure that the ancestors follow the breed standard. Generally speaking, a German Pinscher puppy abroad has an average price of around US$2,000.00. So avoid values much lower than that, and don't buy without any guarantee. Stay tuned!
How big does it get and how long does it live?
As already mentioned, the German Pinscher is a different breed from the zero or miniature Pinscher. That is, its size is also different from its other relatives, being a much larger animal. In this sense, these are medium-sized dogs, with longer legs and a more robust body than the other variations.
In this way, they can measure between 43 centimeters and 50 centimeters at the withers, with no differences between males and females. Meanwhile, this breed is quite slender and muscular. Therefore, their specimens usually weigh between 13 kg and 18 kg. But keep an eye out for some specimens that can become obese throughout their lives.
By the way, these dogs often have some diseases that are characteristic of the breed. For example, von Willebrand disease is a health condition that directly affects blood clotting. In addition, older dogs can also have hip dysplasia and cataracts. That is, it is very important to keep regular veterinary appointments.
What's more, routine exams can also help detect these diseases early. Although most have no cure, treatment allows the animal to lead a normal, healthy life. When well cared for, the German Pinscher can live up to about 14 years.
How to raise a German Pinscher puppy?
Well, if you are interested in acquiring a puppy of this breed, get ready to have an energetic and intelligent animal! That is, you will need to have the time and willingness to take him for a walk daily, or you will run the risk of having a bored dog at home. In this sense, the German Pinscher puppy may develop unwanted behaviors.
Furthermore, this breed is quite intelligent, which means that you can easily train or even teach your pet tricks. But keep an eye out, the German Pinscher can be a stubborn and rebellious animal, so always seek the guidance of a professional so as not to develop a wrong dynamic with your puppy.
Meanwhile, this breed has a strong protective instinct. Therefore, he is usually always close to his human family, being an affectionate animal and companion. What's more, they like children of all ages, with a playful and loving personality, they can be great dogs for large families.
And how about learning more about one of the most famous variations of the German Pinscher, the Pinscher zero dog? Much smaller in stature than its predecessor, this breed is quite popular in Brazil.
