Although the name refers to the United States, the American Eskimo dog breed has its origins in Germany, where the Spitz came from. In that sense, they are related to other dogs like Pomeranian, German Spitz, Keeshound, among others. In fact, its characteristic features that resemble a fox and its abundant fur end up denouncing its lineage.

Although its ancestry is somewhat obvious, there are few records of the breed. Generally speaking, they were referred to as white dogs from German immigrant communities. In that sense, he was only recognized because he became quite famous in circus performances in the United States. Maybe that's why the breed has adopted the name American Eskimo.

In addition to being an intelligent dog that learns tricks easily, its furry and charismatic appearance ended up making the breed very famous in Canada as well. It is believed that the cold climate of the region also helped in its adaptation, since it has a double layer of white and thick hair.

In addition, he has fox-like features, with pointed and erect ears, in a triangular shape. Its body is proportionate, small, with a tail curled over the back. Although Spitz are found in different colors, the coat of the American Eskimo dog is white.

How much does a dog of this breed cost?

So, have you already been enchanted with this puppy and want to acquire a puppy of the breed? First of all, know that although he is a popular dog in the United States and Canada, he is not very common in Brazil or other hotter countries. The reason, as you can already guess, is that their coat doesn't adapt very well to hot weather.

That is, it can be a little difficult to find puppies of the breed for sale here in Brazil. By the way, be aware of clandestine kennels and breeding grounds that do not guarantee the breed standard or the health of the animals. So, run away from very cheap prices and buy puppies online, as you may be funding animal cruelty.

So, if you prefer, you can look for kennels outside Brazil to import a puppy. In this sense, you can find the American Eskimo dog with values that vary between US$500 and US$1,000.00. However, the same rules apply here, and it is important to check the origin of the place, as well as recommendations from other customers. Stay tuned!
