What is the Dalmatian dog?
First of all, this dog has mysterious and very unknown origins. In general, some researchers even found paintings in Egyptian tombs with characteristics quite similar to the Dalmatian dog. However, these data are not considered official.
Thus, their most certain records depart from a city in the region of Yugoslavia called Dalmatia, which is why the dog has that name. In addition, experts ended up associating traits of the breed with Great Dane dogs and even Pointers. As far as is known, copies of the Dalmatian were also found in paintings from the 17th century.
However, the breed did become popular in the 19th century in England, when they were ever-present protecting Queen Victoria's horses and carriage. Incidentally, its function went far beyond aesthetics, in fact using the protective instinct of these animals that prevented other dogs from attacking the horses that pulled the royal carriage.
It was in the 1880s that the breed was officially recognized, soon spreading across Europe and the United States, where it was also the official dog of the Fire Department. However, during the 1990s, with the release of the animation “101 Dalmatians” in the cinema, the breed became so desired! Although the most striking feature of this dog is its white coat with black or brown spots, its personality also conquers.
Furthermore, this dog is quite strong, muscular and has shapely limbs. In addition, it has drooping and triangular ears well positioned on the side of the head. The large, round eyes, usually dark in color, lend an air of docility and cuteness to the breed.
How much does a dog of this breed cost?
Although this is a well-known and loved breed around the world, Dalmatian puppies don't come at a very friendly price. In addition, you ensure that the place is suitable for breeding dogs and thus avoid funding animal cruelty even indirectly. So, always try to buy dogs from accredited kennels, and look for recommendations and indications from people you know before making the purchase.

In addition, the Dalmatian also has a tendency to form kidney stones due to its inability to metabolize uric acid. So, it's very important to keep an eye out for your pet and take him to appointments with the veterinarian regularly, in addition to keeping routine exams up to date.
Furthermore, due to its large size, the Dalmatian dog may have hip dysplasia when older. This disease can cause difficulty in locomotion and pain in the hind legs. However, while he may have some health issues, his life expectancy is high, ranging from 12 to 14 years old.
Finally, these dogs may not look that big, but they have a great height, reaching up to 64 centimeters at the withers. With strong, muscular paws, he is a fast animal that requires daily exercise to stay healthy. In this sense, its weight should not exceed 32 kg or it will be an obese dog.
