Angora, Persian, naked… There are so many! Read and be surprised by the first place!

10. Sphynx or Hairless

Unusual breed, originally from icy Canada, was registered for the first time in 1966.

Due to its appearance, it was nicknamed Sphynx (Sphinx) for resembling ancient Egyptian cats.

It is not easy to find in breeders in Brazil, but it is increasingly popular.

It is quite clumsy and, despite the aggressive appearance, due to the lack of hair, it is extremely affectionate, including children.

Its size is medium (up to 7 kg) and one of its (many characteristics) are its huge ears.

09. Siberian

Large cat (between 9 and 10 kg), originally from Russia and possibly the breed that gave rise to all long-haired cats known today.

Despite being an ancient breed, the Siberian cat was only classified as a breed in the 1980s.

Its enormous hair helps it withstand the low temperatures of northern Europe, but even so, it has become a popular breed in Brazil.

It is a cat with developed musculature, and is extremely patient, even with children, but has a very calm temperament.

08. Himalayas

Breed that is a cross between the Siamese cat and other cats, and is characterized by a dark face and paws and light body hair.

The Himalayan cat is affectionate and patient with children, but has a fickle behavior.

So, there will be days when he will want to play for many hours, run around the house and touch everything, and on others he will lie down all day, moving almost nothing.

Its hair, much longer than the Siamese, makes it look bigger than it is, but in general it is medium-sized (between 3 and 5 kg).

07. Angora

One of the most well-known cat breeds, the Angora, in general, has a different color on the left eye than the right and long, yellow or white hair.

It is medium-sized (up to 5 kg), but should not be plump; therefore, it is a cat that needs to climb and move, so it must have scratching posts with several floors and passages, otherwise it could become obese or even depressed.

The Angora cat is generally deaf in the ear on the side of the head with the blue eye, and this is a genetic flaw inherent to the breed.

06. By the Short English

It is a muscular cat, of medium size (9 to 7 kg) and has more rounded shapes.

One of the most popular breeds in Europe, and probably the oldest shorthaired breed in the world, the English Shorthair is often cast in films, commercials and publicity photographs because of its easygoing nature.

Likes to play, but does not demand constant attention, and often likes to play alone, being ideal for people who live alone, or in a house with few residents.

05. Persian

Breed of medium-sized cats (up to 6 kg), known for having a flatter face and long hair.

Originally from Iran, they are quiet and affectionate animals, so they are ideal for homes with small children.

The Persian cat is a home breed, which likes to play quietly, but generally prefers to spend hours resting in the sun.

As it is a breed without strong wild instincts, it requires that its litter box is always clean.

04. Maine coon

One of the most popular cat breeds in the United States.

It's the biggest race world (on average weighing 11 kg), and is known for its long hair and its ears with a tuft at the tip, similar to those of the lynx.

Extremely intelligent, affectionate but without excesses, he likes to interact with his family, but avoid contact with strangers.

They learn tricks easily, and unlike other cat breeds, they love to play in the water, but their long hair is hard work, as they require daily brushing.

03. Siamese

One of the best known cat breeds in the world, its appearance is characteristic: lighter fur, and darker paws and face.

The eyes, most of the time, of an intense blue also draw attention.

The Siamese has a medium size (up to 6 kg) and affectionate behavior with children and their owners, and the breed learns tricks easily.

On the other hand, Siamese are extremely curious and can sometimes be rebellious, wanting to explore the environment, so they require attentive owners.

02. American Shorthair

The most popular breed in the United States, American Shorthair cats are generally gray with black stripes and large green eyes. They are medium-sized (up to 6 kg), with an affectionate and calm behavior and very attached to their owners.

On the other hand, they are independent cats, who manage to distract themselves.

Thus, they can live well in houses with few people, but their strong muscles make them require scratching posts and different toys to spend their energy and avoid obesity.

01. Brazilian Short Hair

Brazilian breed recognized internationally only in 1998, it is what can be called a "common cat", as it is the result of crossing several breeds and, for not having a differential in its appearance.

It has short hair, usually white on the abdomen and medium size (up to 6 kg), but its musculature and its ability to resist diseases and other problems typical of the Brazilian environment make the breed unique.

Its origins date back to navigation, when they were brought by the Portuguese, on ships, to hunt mice and, once on land, they were left in the streets.

For these reasons, their behavior can be a little unpredictable, however, Brazilian shorthair cats are always affectionate and patient with their owners.

It is a breed that adapts very well to apartments of any size and, unlike most felines, can coexist peacefully with other animals – including dogs.
