Anúncios

30. Havana Brown

The Havana Brown was the result of a planned breeding between Siamese and domestic black cats, by a group of cat fanciers in England, in the 1950s. Early breeders introduced a Siamese type Russian Blue into their breeding. However, using current genetic testing, it is believed that almost none remain in the gene pool.

29. Tonkinese

Tonkinese is a domestic cat breed produced by crossbreeding between the Siamese and Burmese. The best-known variety is the short-haired Tonkinese, but there is a medium-haired (sometimes called Tibetan) which tends to be more popular in Europe, mainly in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and France.

28. Ocicat

The Ocicat is an all-domestic breed of cat which resembles a wild cat but has no wild DNA in its gene pool. The breed is unusual in that it is spotted like a wild cat but has the temperament of a domestic animal. It is named for its resemblance to the Ocelot.

27. American Shorthair

The American Shorthair (ASH) is a breed of domestic cat believed to be descended from European cats brought to North America by early settlers to protect valuable cargo from mice and rats. According to the Cat Fancier’s Association, in 2012, it was the seventh most popular pedigreed cat in the United States.

26. American Bobtail

The American Bobtail is most notable for its stubby “bobbed” tail about one-third to one-half the length of a normal cat’s tail. This is the result of a genetic mutation affecting the tail development, similar to that of a Manx cat.

25. Chartreux

The Chartreux is a rare breed of domestic cat from France. They are known for their blue (silver-grey) water-resistant short hair double coats and copper-colored eyes. Chartreux cats are also known for their “smile”: due to the structure of their heads and their tapered muzzles, they often appear to be smiling. Chartreux are exceptional hunters and are highly prized by farmers.

24. Singapura

The Singapura is one of the smallest breeds of cats, noted for its large eyes and ears, brown ticked coat and blunt tail.

21. Siamese

The Siamese cat is characterized by blue almond-shaped eyes; a triangular head shape; large ears; an elongated, slender, and muscular body; and point coloration. The International Cat Association describes the modern Siamese as affectionate, social, intelligent, and playful into adulthood, often enjoying a game of fetch. Siamese tends to seek human interaction and also like companionship from other cats.

20. Manx

The Manx is a cat breed originating in the Isle of Man with a naturally occurring mutation that shortens the tail. 19. Burmilla

The Burmilla is a breed of domestic cat which originated in the United Kingdom in 1981. It is a cross between the Chinchilla Persian and Burmese breeds. Standards were produced in 1984, and the breed gained championship status in the United Kingdom in the 1990s.

18. Balinese

The Balinese is a long-haired breed of domestic cat with Siamese-style point coloration and sapphire-blue eyes. 17. Ragdoll

13. Turkish Angora

The Turkish Angora is one of the ancient, natural breeds of cat, having originated in central Turkey, in the Ankara region. The breed has been documented as early as the 17th century and is believed to be the origin of the mutations for both the coloration white and long hair.
