Find out why your cat meows in the morning here
As if the alarm clock wasn't enough to disturb sleep, those who have a cat have an extra alarm, a feline meowing early in the morning. And this can be followed by climbing, scratching the door, pawing and the most diverse behaviors to attract attention. And why does your cat meow early in the morning?
How old does a cat live? How to be healthy? Look!
Did you know that it is possible to increase how many years a cat lives? All you have to do is take care of your pet's health. See the main ones.
The biological rhythm of cats is different
Cats have a different biological rhythm compared to humans, since they are crepuscular animals. This means that they are naturally more active at dusk and dawn.
Your cat reacts to the morning light as a signal to wake up, and in this case, wake you up too. That way, meow to get attention, to play or ask for food. Whatever the reason, the ideal is to stop answering his request little by little, as this habit can become a bigger problem if your animal realizes that the actions work and you wake up every time to answer him.
Getting your cat to get proper morning behavior not only requires you to ignore him, but also that he has a routine that aligns with yours, not the other way around. Therefore, the ideal is to get into the habit of going to bed and always waking up around the same time. Also set times for your feline to feed and make him spend energy before bed.
Food is a source of energy
Food is a source of energy for your pet. That way, making it available all the time will make it have constant energy. And, if you already have the habit of always offering food, this could be one of the reasons why your cat meows early in the morning.
The best thing would be to feed him at most twice a day. So, set the time for the last meal to be right before bed, ensuring he stays fed throughout the night and doesn't wake up so hungry.
Your cat may be lacking a nightly routine.
A routine following well-established schedules is very important for your cat, especially when it comes to sleeping and waking up. His nighttime routine should be organized in a way that allows him to rest. About 2 hours before bed, take time to spend your pet's energy, play and keep him entertained. The more tired you make it, the better!
Right after expending energy, it's time to eat, following the time chosen for the last meal. With a full stomach, it's time to let your cat relax, so that he is ready to rest, at the same time that you are preparing to do the same.
He also needs stimulation and play
One of the reasons why your cat may be meowing in the morning could be due to the lack of stimulation in his play area. Consider providing toys and accessories that stimulate and keep him entertained, enriching his environment and distracting him from his room.
Tip: darken the room
Finally, as these felines tend to wake up with the first signs of morning, use darker or thicker curtains in the space where your cat sleeps, making it difficult for the sunlight to enter, so that it takes time to realize that it is dawn, enough to get you up first.
It is important to point out that the worst way to solve the problem is by scolding or even using snacks. Following these tips, around 10 to 15 days your cat will be able to assimilate the routine and its owner will be able to sleep well. If you don't notice improvement, it's best to try to seek help from a professional specializing in animal behavior.
