Gone are the days when a dog was "man's best friend". Or at least, the only one. That's because today he shares this position with the cats. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Since 2019, Brazil has about 139 million pets, but the highest growth rate was among them, the cats, with an increase of 8%, against 5% of the puppies<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>

This means that even though we still have more homes with dogs, people are adopting more cats.<\/p>\n<\/div>

10. Sphynx or Hairless<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Unusual breed, originally from icy Canada, was registered for the first time in 1966. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Due to its appearance, it was nicknamed Sphynx (Sphinx) for resembling ancient Egyptian cats. <\/p>\n<\/div>

It is not easy to find in breeders in Brazil, but it is increasingly popular. <\/p>\n<\/div>

It is quite clumsy and, despite the aggressive appearance, due to the lack of hair, it is extremely affectionate, including children. <\/p>\n<\/div>

09. Siberian<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Large cat (between 9 and 10 kg), originally from Russia and possibly the breed that gave rise to all long-haired cats known today. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Despite being an ancient breed, the Siberian cat was only classified as a breed in the 1980s. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Its enormous hair helps it withstand the low temperatures of northern Europe, but even so, it has become a popular breed in Brazil. <\/p>\n<\/div>

It is a cat with developed musculature, and is extremely patient, even with children, but has a very calm temperament.<\/p>\n<\/div>

08. Himalayas<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Breed that is a cross between the Siamese cat and other cats, and is characterized by a dark face and paws and light body hair. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The Himalayan cat is affectionate and patient with children, but has a fickle behavior. <\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

So, there will be days when he will want to play for many hours, run around the house and touch everything, and on others he will lie down all day, moving almost nothing. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Its hair, much longer than the Siamese, makes it look bigger than it is, but in general it is medium-sized (between 3 and 5 kg).<\/p>\n<\/div>
